Sylhet was hit with dangerous flash floods in July 2022 and almost 70% of the Sunamganj area was underwater. The scale of the disaster was immense โ hundreds of thousands of families were displaced, cut off from food, clean water, and basic necessities.
Our foundation โ Siraj Mia Memorial Foundation โ sprung into immediate action and distributed essential food and water to 1,200 families in remote and affected areas.

Why We Acted Immediately
When a disaster of this scale strikes, the first 72 hours are critical. Roads become impassable, supply chains break down, and the most vulnerable communities โ those in remote areas โ are the last to receive help through official channels.
We did not wait. We mobilised resources, coordinated with local contacts in the affected regions, and reached families that relief convoys had not yet reached. Every family that received essentials was one less family going without during the flood.
Going Forward
Bangladesh faces flood risk every monsoon season. One of our foundation's ongoing commitments is to maintain disaster-response readiness so that when the next crisis hits, we can act within hours rather than days.
To every family that received support, and to every volunteer who made it possible โ thank you.
